Abstract

Along with the increasing consumption of electrical energi, the availability of fossil energi sources is decreasing. The formation of fossil energi requires a long process, so researchers and academics try to develop alternatif energi sources by utilizing New and Renewable Energi (EBT), one of them is wind energi. This study focuses on the design and implementation of wind turbines. The wind turbine designed is a type of wind turbine with a horizontal axis that is designed using an electric generator of the axial flux type permanent magnet generator. The housing of the generator is designed using iron material, and the blades used are of the inverse taper type made of styrofoam which is then covered with sheets of balsa wood and monocot. The control system used is a Wind Charge Controller (WCC) with a brake voltage specification of 30V. This wind turbine design provides a good output in the low wind speed area of 2.26 m/s. Output power of turbine 14.28W with an average output voltage of 29.78V, current 0.46A. Wind turbine efficiency can be achieved up to 88.92%.
